This Privacy Policy explains how OwnTheMoon ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects your personal information when you visit ownthemoon.net or purchase a Moon Piece.

1. Information We Collect

• Account & purchase data: email address, public display name, optional message, Moon Piece number, purchase date.
• Payment data: processed by Stripe. We do not store your card number, CVC, or full billing details on our servers.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, referrer, timestamps.
• Content you submit: your public display name and optional message shown on your Moon Piece page.

2. Payment Processing (Stripe)

All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. When you check out, information you enter into the Stripe payment form is submitted directly to Stripe under their privacy policy. We receive a confirmation, the buyer email, and a payment reference to fulfil your order.

3. Email

We use your email to send transactional messages related to your purchase (order confirmation, certificate, updates about your Moon Piece). We do not sell your email. You can request removal by contacting us.

4. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and secure checkout, plus limited analytics and preference cookies. See our Cookie Policy for details and how to disable them.

5. Analytics

We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate site usage (page views, referrers, device categories). Analytics data is not used to identify individual visitors and is retained in aggregated form.

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted storage, row-level security on our database, and least-privilege access controls. No system is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Purchase records are retained for as long as your Moon Piece exists, and for additional periods required by tax, accounting and legal obligations. Server logs are retained for a limited period for security and debugging.

Depending on your jurisdiction (including GDPR/UK GDPR and CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. OwnTheMoon is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
